You will need:

• 1-(8") round cake pan
• 1-(10") round cake pan
• 1-Cupcake pan
• 4-Cupcake liners
• 1-(8oz). Custard cup
• 2-(6oz.) Custard cups
• 2-Boxes of cake mix (your choice)
• 2-(12oz.) Containers of readymade white frosting
• 5-Chocolate Creme Oreo Cakesters
• 12-Mini Oreo cookies
• 1-Dark chocolate Hershey kiss
• Brown gel dye for frosting
• Black gel dye for frosting

1. Heat your oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom and sides of 1 (8") round cake pan, 1 (10") round cake pan, 1 (8oz). Custard cup, 2 (6oz.) Custard cups with cooking spray and put the 4 cupcake liners in the cupcake pan. (The best cooking spray to use is Pam Baking Spray with Flour)

2. In a large bowl, combine and mix all the cake ingredients as directed on box. Use half of the batter to fill the custard cups 2/3 of the way with the cake batter and fill the four cupcake liners, then split the other half of the batter between the 8' and 9" cake pans.

3. Bake the custard cups 20 to 25 minutes, cake pans 25 to 30 minutes, and the cupcakes 18 to 23 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool cakes in cups and pans for 15 minutes. Invert cakes onto wire racks; cool 1 hour or until completely cooled.

4. Put 1/8 cup of the white frosting in a small bowl and dye it black, then use the brown gel dye to tint the remaining white readymade frosting the desired brown color you want your baby's Teddy Bear cake to be.

5. Arrange the cake on a serving tray, cake board, or foil covered cardboard. (The tray must be at least 16" wide and 22" tall.) Place the 10" cake on the lower half of the tray 3" from the bottom and place the 8" cake at the top. Now cut off about 1/2" off one side of the two cakes made in the 6oz. custard cups and place them on opposite sides of the top part of the 8" cake, then using a serrated knife, cut the tops of the "ears" to make them the same height as the 8" cake.

6. Now frost everything with the brown frosting, except the cake baked in the 8oz. custard cup. Take the cake baked in the 8oz. custard cup and place it on the lower half of the 8" cake and cover it in brown frosting. (This will be the bear's mouth.) Place two of the cupcake on opposite sides of the bottom part of the 10" cake (feet) and put the other two cupcakes on the sides of the 10" cake. (hands)

7. Gently press 2 of the Chocolate Creme Oreo Cakesters into the frosting on opposite sides on the upper portion of the 8" cake. (bear's eyes) Then Gently press the remaining 4 Chocolate Creme Oreo Cakesters into the frosting of the lower portions of the 4 cupcakes and place three mini Oreo cookies above each Oreo Cakester to make your Teddy Bears paws.

8. Now to finish this fabulous Teddy Bear cake, all you need to do is put the black frosting in a decorating bag and make the Teddy Bears mouth on the piece of cake that was baked in the 8oz. custard cup that you placed on top of the 8" cake. After the mouth is finished, place the Dark chocolate Hershey kiss upside down above the mouth for the nose.

Teddy Bear Story Time: Gather the children in a circle and read a teddy bear book some great examples for you to read are The Teddy Bears' Picnic by Jimmy Kennedy or The Teddy Bear by David McPhail. To make the story time extra special have the reader wear a Teddy Bear mask.

Tattoos: There are many first birthday ideas for face paint substitutes, but the most fun and exciting are temporary tattoos. Face paint is not an advisable activity for 1st birthday parties, as they may eat it, rub it in their eyes, or get upset when they see everyone else wearing it when they can't.

Where's Teddy? This is a fun game for the older children at the party. Take four identical boxes with lids and cut two hand holes in the sides of each box, then wrap the boxes and lids in Teddy Bear wrapping paper and put a number on the fronts of the boxes (1-4). Cut out the wrapping paper where the holes are, and put a teddy bear in one box and 3 different stuffed animals of equal size in the other boxes and place the lids back on the tops. (Remember which box has the Teddy Bear in it.) Now have the kids take turns putting their hands in each box feeling the stuffed animals, then have them guess which box has the Teddy Bear in it. Write each child's name and guess down and after all the children have had their turn, give the children who guessed the correct box a prize.
