Take the pictures of your child and cut out the backgrounds. Then glue them in the center of the picnic tablecloth scrapbook paper on the inside of the invitations. Glue the wiggly eyes to the bear on the cover, use the small black pom poms for the nose, and the black yarn for the mouth. Then to finish it off you can add a blue or pink ribbon bow to the bear's neck.

Print the picture out on tan-colored card stock paper and add, "Come Join Baby (child's name) Bear for a Beary Fun Teddy Bear First Birthday Party". Then add your party information on the back. If there is a sidewalk leading to the party area, you can use sidewalk chalk and a Teddy Bear shaped stencil and draw Teddy Bears down the center of the sidewalk and a red and white checkered pattern along the edges of your sidewalk. You can purchase or make your own Personalized Teddy Bear Banners. A few first birthday ideas for where you can put a banner are at the entrance to your house, above the gift table, and above the birthday cake.
You can make a Teddy Bear cave play area! To do this you need 3 large tall boxes (at least 3 1/2' to 4' tall) and 6 smaller boxes just as wide as the taller boxes, but only 2 feet tall. Remove the flaps on the bottom of the boxes. Now glue the 3 large boxes together in a straight line, when the glue dries cut doorways for the kids to enter the boxes. (Don't cut the sides yet, just an entrance from one side leading to the back side of the last box)
Now glue the smaller boxes to the sides of the large connected boxes, when the glue dries cut doorways leading from each individual smaller box to the larger box it's glued to. Then cover the boxes with large brown blankets or sheets and place it next to a wall to finish your Teddy Bear cave. If you are using scrap sheets or blankets you can tape or glue them to the doorway of the cave and cut out the entrance for an even better look.
You can tape enlarged and laminated pictures of Teddy Bears, trees, and honey pots and place them outside around your party area and in the children's play area. Some party sites suggest that you should lay small plastic ants around your party area and tables, although this sounds like a great idea it also is a definite choking hazard. You should avoid doing this at a 1st birthday party especially if you plan on many children between 1 - 3 years old to attend.
One of the most popular themed first birthday ideas for decorations that is centered around your baby is giving them their own special chair.
Here are a few simple first birthday ideas to help give your party area a definite Teddy Bear feel. If your party is being held indoors you can put down green grass turf in the play area, and when it's time for the children to eat you can lay down a red and white checkered tablecloth to sit on. Play Teddy Bear themed music in the background, a great CD to play is Gary Rosen's - Teddy Bears' Picnic CD.
When the children arrive, give them Teddy Bear Cone Hats. You can also decorate with some of your child's Teddy Bears, theme related toys, and Teddy Bear books. Put the toys out where they can be seen and played with. (Make sure that all items placed within reach of small children are large enough and age appropriate, to avoid choking hazards.)
Place wicker baskets with plastic fruit in them that are on top of a small section of red and white checkered cloth around your party area as picnic props. You can also do this with mini wicker baskets and add a few mini teddy bears sitting on the checkered cloth next to it, to resemble a mini Teddy Bear picnic scene.
You can make large cardboard cutouts of Teddy Bears and use them at the entrance of the party to greet your guests, at the gift table to instruct where to place the gifts, or take Polaroid pictures of the parents standing next to them with their children before your child's Teddy Bear 1st birthday party ends. First Birthday Ideas for Icebreaker Activities
Here is a list of the best and most popular Teddy Bear icebreaker first birthday ideas for the babies and older children who may be attending your baby's party.
Teddy Cookies: Use a Teddy Bear shaped cookie cutter to make Teddy bear shaped honey sugar cookies. Make sure the cookies are completely cooled before the party begins. Set the cookies on the tables with bowls of different colored icing, various shapes of sprinkles, colored sugar, jelly beans, M&M's, and edible glitter and let the kids decorate two or three cookies. Wrap their best looking cookie up in Saran wrap and put their name on it to take home as a party favor, then set the rest out on a tray for the guests to eat.
Teddy Bear Headbands: Have the kids make their own Teddy Bear headbands. Supply the children with pre-cut strips of brown felt with 3M two-sided tape on one side and large brown pom poms. Have the children remove the tape's cover and apply the felt onto the hair bands then have them glue the brown pom poms onto the headbands. Set them down on wax paper until they dry to avoid damaging any table or counter surfaces then send them home as party favors. You could also prepare these yourself prior to the party and hand them out as the guests arrive so they can wear them during the party.
Teddy Bear Paw Prints: Out of all the first birthday ideas for icebreaker activities, this is certainly the cutest. You will need to purchase or make your own clay or plaster Group Hand Print Kits and enough small plastic food storage containers for all the children attending. The food storage containers will need to be at lease 1 1/2 inches deep and wide enough to fit both of the children's hands. When making these Teddy Bear party paw prints have the children make a fist and put their hands in the clay/plaster mix palm down, and when you remove their hand from the clay/plaster then you should have a nice paw print.
For an added touch, you can place mini Teddy Bears in the clay/plaster on each side of the child's print. If you are having trouble getting a child to make a fist try putting a small pea sized object in the palm of their hand, that should keep their hand in the fist position long enough to get a print of it. After you get the handprint, make sure you wash the child's hands thoroughly.
Healthy Honeycomb Necklace: For these healthy delicious snacks, you need string and Gerber's fruit or vegetable flavored wagon wheels, all you need to do is thread the strings through the holes in the center of the Gerber's snacks and tie the ends of the strings in a knot.
If you want to give the children a little variety, use the two flavors of Gerber's Wagon Wheels snacks and the regular and chocolate flavored Honeycombs cereals to make the necklaces.
Make sure that the excess string hanging off the end of the knot is cut short and not frayed, also use a durable and chemical free string, so that their will be no worries of toxins or loose string being consumed.
Teddy Bear Coloring Pages: Here are a couple first birthday ideas for Teddy Bear coloring activities. Provide kids with crayons and markers, and coloring books while waiting for the other guests to arrive. To keep the party as mess-free as possible use Crayola Color Wonders markers and finger-paints. Make sure that an adult is always present while small children are coloring and finger painting, since some children have a tendency to mark on everything in the room. Also remember marker lids and broken crayons can be choking hazards.

Empty out the honey squeeze bottles into a large container for your own personal use, and wash out the bear containers. After they have dried, fill them with honey flavored Teddy Grahams. Next you will need a roll of light colored Velcro tape, cut the Velcro into small strips and attach them to the bottles. (Leave enough space so that they are still recognizable as bears.)
Take toy foam balls small enough for the little children to handle and put Velcro tape on them as well. Now have the children throw the balls at the bears and for everyone that sticks to a bear give out a sucker. When the game is over take the tape off the bears and send them home as party favors.

Now stick the bottles on the Velcro in a line along the edge of the table and have the children take turns standing 5 feet from the table and throwing a ball at the bears trying to knock one down. Play the game until everyone has knocked down a bear, and then give the gummy bear filled bears out as prizes. To make the line for the players to throw from, you can take a strip of yellow construction paper and glue Teddy Graham across it.
Teddy Bear Story Time: Gather the children in a circle and read a teddy bear book some great examples for you to read are The Teddy Bears' Picnic by Jimmy Kennedy or The Teddy Bear by David McPhail. To make the story time extra special have the reader wear a Teddy Bear mask.
Teddy Bear Pinata: No party is complete without a Pinata game, and since this is your baby’s first party you can use pull string kit Teddy Bear Pinatas.
Tattoos: There are many first birthday ideas for face paint substitutes, but the most fun and exciting are temporary tattoos. Face paint is not an advisable activity for 1st birthday parties, as they may eat it, rub it in their eyes, or get upset when they see everyone else wearing it when they can't.
Where's Teddy? This is a fun game for the older children at the party. Take four identical boxes with lids and cut two hand holes in the sides of each box, then wrap the boxes and lids in Teddy Bear wrapping paper and put a number on the fronts of the boxes (1-4). Cut out the wrapping paper where the holes are, and put a teddy bear in one box and 3 different stuffed animals of equal size in the other boxes and place the lids back on the tops. (Remember which box has the Teddy Bear in it.) Now have the kids take turns putting their hands in each box feeling the stuffed animals, then have them guess which box has the Teddy Bear in it. Write each child's name and guess down and after all the children have had their turn, give the children who guessed the correct box a prize.
