For this first birthday invitation, you will need red cardstock paper, and orange, black and white construction paper. Take the red cardstock paper and cut it into an oval shape, this will be Elmo's head. Next, cut the white construction paper into smaller circles, these will be Elmo's eyes, and cut the black construction paper into dime sized circles for the pupils of the eyes.

Cut the orange construction paper in to smaller ovals for Elmo's nose and cut the black construction paper into the shape of Elmo's mouth. Finally, to finish off your Elmo birthday invitations put your party information on the back of the card.

Elmo's Goldfish Invitation

Take either an enlarged picture of a goldfish or a picture of a goldfish in a bowl. Then print it onto white cardstock, and cut out the background so all that is left is the shape of the picture. For this Elmo birthday cake, you will need an oval cake pan and a cupcake pan. First cook the cake in the oval cake pan as directed on the cake mix box, you will also need to make three cupcakes with the same cake mix. Take a container of any white ready-made frosting and frost two of the cupcakes white. Now take out enough of the frosting to ice the last cupcake and dye the amount that is left bright red with food coloring, ice the entire cake with the red frosting. Now take the remaining white frosting and dye it orange with orange food coloring, and ice the last cupcake orange.

Cut the iced tops off the cupcakes and place them on the cake they will be the eyes, and the orange cupcake top will be his nose. For the pupils of the eyes you can use Hershey Kisses, and add orange jellybeans cut in half over the orange nose. Finally, take a couple plain chocolate Hershey bars and cut them out into the shape of Elmo's mouth, and then put them on the cake. Make your cupcakes and ice them with red frosting, which you can make by using red food coloring to dye any white frosting.
