John Deere Party Decorations

Use green and yellow as the primary decorating colors at your John Deere 1st birthday party. If two colors are not enough for you to work with red, brown, and light blue are also great colors to use at a barnyard style party. As the children arrive decorate them all with a John Deere cone hat or if you have the extra money you can buy some John Deere kids hats.

Hang green and yellow streamers all over the party area, you can hang them over the top and down the sides of doorways, on party tables, down from branches of trees, and anywhere else you think could use a little flair. If you want the best looking party possible then you should purchase John Deere Partyware like plates, napkins, table covers, balloons, and John Deere cups for your birthday party.

Balloons are very important when it comes to decorating your party area. Great places to put party balloons are on your mailbox, chairs, tables, and on the bows on presents. Another great John Deere 1st birthday party idea is to take large tractor toys or tractor replicas with green and yellow helium balloons attached to them and put them in the center of the tables for centerpieces or you can use these great John Deere first birthday centerpieces.

You can also take two different colors of balloons and use them to designate different play areas for different age groups. Mylar balloons like this John Deere Mylar Balloon are typically best for a first birthday, as they are safer for young children and are harder to pop.

Roll yellow and green eating utensils in a red bandanna and then tie it up with yellow and green ribbon. You can take white cups and use black marker to make cow prints on them, this can also be done with white balloons. Place John Deere farm toys, John Deere ride-on toys, and farm related stuffed animals around play areas for children to play with.

Another nice touch would be to purchase John Deere posters and place them around your first birthday party area. You can also tie twine or rope around trees, mailbox, balloons, and table legs for that true John Deere feel. Play a John Deere music CD in the background.

Here is a list of objects you can place around your John Deere 1st birthday party area to make it seem more farm like:

  • Cornstalks
  • Regular sized and mini pumpkins
  • Regular sized and mini bales of straw
  • Wagons (toy and real)
  • Toy rocking horse
  • Red-checkered bandannas
  • Flower pots (paint yellow and green)
  • Scarecrow
  • Wind chimes

First Birthday Icebreaker Activities

John Deere Playdough: Playdough is a great way to start any first birthday party. Playdough will help any child expand and explore their imagination, plus it's just plain fun! To make it true John Deere 1st birthday party playdough give the children yellow and green playdough and give them farm animal and tractor shaped cookie cutters. At the end of the party, you can send the playdough and the cookie cutters home as party favors.

Instead of buying ready-made playdough, you can make your own! To make these non-edible and edible playdough recipes fit your John Deere first birthday theme simply separate your finished playdough evenly into two bowls.

Then with latex gloves on add green food coloring to one bowl and yellow to the other one and knead the food coloring until color has changed.

It is best to use latex gloves when doing this or you will end up with yellow and green hands, also change gloves before doing the other bowl to prevent color mixing. Here are our Homemade Playdough Recipes.

Tattoos: Temporary tattoos are a guaranteed way to put a smile on a baby's face, your little birthday party goers will be amazed when they see pictures of farm animals and tractors on their skin. Tattoos are a great substitute for face painting, face paint is not considered to be baby friendly because if they are getting tired they may accidentally rub it into their eyes.

Weighin' Babies: Everyday farmers go around the farm guessing how many pounds of hay, feed, or seeds they have. This is a fun John Deere 1st birthday activity for the adults at the party and all you need is a scale and some babies. Weigh your baby and as the other children arrive put them on a scale and write down their name and weight, don't let anyone else see.

After everyone has arrived and you have all the weights, print out sheets with all the babies names and a line across from the names for the parents to write their guesses. Now pass each baby around one at a time so each participating adult can feel how heavy they are and then have them write down their guesses.

Some babies have a problem when strangers hold them you can choose to exclude them from this activity, but keep in mind that they may want to do it especially when they see how much fun the other babies are having being passed around. Now call out all of the weights, and the adult with the most correct gets a prize. You can also give a special prize to everybody that gets the birthday child's weight right.

First Birthday Party Food

When throwing a John Deere 1st birthday party it is important to remember that the infant children will probably not be able to eat the same foods as the older children and adults. When feeding children that young in age, a great idea for party food is to serve them farm theme related jarred baby food. The farm theme related jarred foods you choose should contain foods like vegetables, rice, turkey, chicken, and beef.

Before you make a final decision on which jarred baby foods you will be serving at the party, it is a good idea to consult the parents of the children that have been invited to see if they have any food allergies. Don't forget your baby's John Deere first Birthday Bib when you serve them their food and cake!

Gerber has many excellent jarred foods to choose from, as well as healthy snacks for children who are eating Stage 3 baby foods all the way up to children 2 years of age. For the children who are eating only soft table foods, typically those between 1 - 2 years, you can serve them some of these great farm style foods.

  • Green Beans
  • Baked Potato
  • Potato Salad
  • Macaroni Salad
  • Baked Beans

When it comes to feeding the older children and adults at your baby's John Deere 1st birthday party you can't go wrong with a barbeque. Any foods you would eat at a barbeque or on a picnic will be perfect for this first birthday theme. Here are a few ideas of what you can serve:

  • Chicken (grilled or fried)
  • Cheeseburgers
  • Corn on the Cob
  • Coleslaw
  • Ribs
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Kielbasa
  • Watermelon

John Deere 1st Birthday Games and Activities

John Deere Pinata: No party is complete without a Pinata game, and since this is your baby’s first party you can use this fun John Deere Tractor Pinata. (Pull string kit available.)

John Deere Wagon Ride: Give the children turns getting hay rides that are being pulled by a John Deere tractor. (Make sure an adult accompanies all small children that ride in the wagon) If you don't have access to a tractor you can give rides in a John Deere pull wagon.

Country Sing-A-Long: Gather all of the children in an open space and play some country music, children's songs, or play some party action songs. As soon as the babies see everybody moving their bodies to the music they are sure to join in laughing and swinging.

Duck, Duck, Tickle Goose: For this funny John Deere 1st birthday game, put the children in groups of 5 or less and have an adult go around tapping each child's head saying duck (this will surely spark curiosity and a few giggles), then pick a child and say goose and start tickling.

This is a great game because after you call goose a couple of times some of the children will burst out laughing when you tap them because they think they are about to get tickled. (The reason you should do this John Deere 1st birthday game in groups of 5 or less is so that the children don't have too wait too long to be the goose and become bored)

My Baby Did What? The adults can play this silly game while the children are in the middle of an activity. Before the party begins, make a list of 10 of the funniest and most unbelievable things you have seen your baby do so far in their first year. Now for each of the 10 things your child has done write down 3 more funny and silly things they didn't do.

Give each participating adult a sheet of paper and a pen. Then tell them that you are going to read off 4 different silly things your baby may have done and it is up to them to guess which one is correct. Now have them read aloud their answers, after they all have given their answers tell them the correct answer and give everyone who got it right a small prize.

Now move on to the next 4 scenarios and when the game is over give the player that had the most right a big prize. (A great idea for a big prize would be a disposable camera)
